These indexes are the handwritten work of Kathleen Wilham and/or the late Virginia Griggs, who painstakingly perused roll after roll of various area newspaper microfilm (Shelbina Democrat, Shelbina Torchlight, Shelby County Herald) to produce a record of births, deaths, illness, and events affecting the citizens of Shelby County, Missouri.  (The microfilm is available to the public at the Missouri State Historical Society in Columbia, Missouri.)

There is a name index provided HERE.  Names are alphabetized by last name.  Any middle name that might possibly be a last name is also given.  Abbreviated and contracted given names (i.e. Eliz., Jas, Wm, Geo, Chas, etc.) have been expanded, but nicknames remain unchanged.  When given names are not present, descriptors have been used in lower case (i.e. infant, son, daughter, etc.)
