HUGH CARROLL

Hugh Carroll was born and raised in Kentucky, but located in Indiana where he lived till 1841, when with his family he came to Missouri and located in Bacon Chapel Neighborhood.  He lived there for over twenty years.  Mr. Carroll was a Methodist and a Democrat, a good neighbor and citizen. He left several children and grand children, some of whom are yet living in the old neighborhood.

ANDREW CARROLL

This is the oldest son of Hugh Carroll and was born in the state of Indiana and came to Missouri with his father in 1841.  Andrew Carroll is one of the old citizens who remember well when but a few houses could be seen in this section of the county, the few then being in the timber.  Not one could be seen on the prairie, not a railroad in the county, and but one town, Shelbyville, the county seat.  He has watched with interest the development of this country for the last sixty-one years.  Mr. Carroll moved to south Missouri and lived for a few years, but he came back to the old neighborhood.  Mr. Carroll has been married twice and has two families of children, all of whom are grown.  He is a Methodist and Democrat and has been a farmer all of his life.  He has recently sold his farm and now lives in Clarence.

WM. A. CARROLL

JOHN FRANKLIN CARROLL

Is a second son of Andrew Carroll, who was also born and raised in Bacon Chapel neighborhood.  Frank, as he is best known is a farmer and mechanic, working during crop season on the farm and in fall and winter working at the carpenter trade.  He left the farm last winter and settled in Clarence, where he is following his trade and dealing in pumps, windmills and conducting a general repair shop.  Frank is a Methodist and a Democrat.

ROBERT CARROLL

Is the youngest son of the first marriage of Andrew Carroll.   Robert grew up in the old neighborhood, attending the district schools and helping on the farm in whatever was necessary to help support the family till he reached his majority.  Being of a mechanical turn of mind, he learned the carpenter trade, which he has followed for several years, doing some farm work at intervals.  He moved to Clarence some few weeks ago and opened a general repair shop in connection with the sale of pumps and windmills, is a contractor in carpenter work.  Robert is a mechanic, surpassed by few of his age in this section of the country.  He, by close attention to business and fair dealings, established a fine shop business, and pump and windmill trade, which he sold to his brother Frank last winter, and enables him to give his whole time to contracting and building.   He made a profession of religion in early life and joined a Baptist church and is at this time a leading and influential member of Oak Ridge Baptist church.  He is a Democrat and a prominent Odd Fellow.
