SHELBYVILLE TEMPERANCE SOCIETY-SHELBY COUNTY TEMPERANCE SOCIETY

In the fall of 1840 the temperance people of the county met at Shelbyville and formed a temperance society.

"We do hereby pledge ourselves to abstain from the use of all intoxicating liquors, either by ourselves or in our families, as a drink or beverage."
